The epitope-specific mAbs reduced plaque count from LV-infected cells, and also neutralized a Dutch isolate (NL1) and an English isolate (NY2), which share the epitope sequence. The mAbs did not neutralize the US isolate VR2332, a Danish isolate (DEN), two Spanish isolates (SPA 1 and SPA2), a French isolate (FRA), or a Luxemburg isolate (LUX), all of which differ at residues in the epitope. The mAbs also were positive in an indirect immunoperoxidase assay of lung aveolar macrophages infected with LV.
