The epitope is an analog of FMDV VP1 (134-155) with Y136 and R153 replaced by Cys residues to allow cyclization of the peptide.
The epitope, in either a linear or cyclic form, inhibited the binding of mAbs SD6, 4C4, 5A2, 6D11, 7FC12, 7AH1, or 7CA11 to immobilized linear epitope coupled to KLH. The mAbs recognize different epitopes within antigenic site A on the VP1 G-H loop of FMDV serotype C.
