name:
Critical role of neighbouring sequences on the immunogenicity of the C3 poliovirus neutralization epitope expressed at the surface of recombinant bacteria.
description:
Serum from 1 of 4 rabbits immunized with bacteria expressing the epitope inserted into LamB at position 153 neutralized the virus, but the anti-viral activity decreased in later bleeds. Sera from two rabbits immunoprecipitated native virions and showed stable activity over several weeks' bleeds. These rabbits had high titers toward heat-treated virus (C particles) in the preimmune sera. Sera from the two other rabbits immunoprecipitated the native virions as well as heat-treated virus (C particles), but the activity was transient .
