name:
A large-scale evaluation of peptide vaccines against foot-and-mouth disease: lack of solid protection in cattle and isolation of escape mutants.
description:
The epitope was derived from VP1 of different preparations of FMDV strain C3 Arg85. Cys residue was added at C-terminus.
Serum neutralizing (SN) titers were determined by a plaque reduction test, as well as 50% mouse protection dose (MPD50). Similar results were observed from animals immunized with various doses and schedules. Significantly higher FMDV-specific IgG1/IgG2 ratios were observed. Higher SN titers were associated with protection of virus challenge.
