name:
Location of a highly conserved neutralizing epitope in the F glycoprotein of human respiratory syncytial virus.
description:
The monoclonal antibody was tested by Western blot against extracts of cells infected with either Long virus or escape mutants. The F protein was detected only in the Long strain-infected cells but not in cells infected with the mutant viruses. The authors provide evidence that these residues are critical residues of a linear epitope, although the linear epitope was not strictly defined.
