name:
Protection of guinea-pigs against foot-and-mouth disease virus by immunization with a PhoE-FMDV hybrid protein.
description:
This synthetic peptide contains two antigenic determinants of the structural protein VP1 of foot-and-mouth disease virus type A10. These include two tandem repeats of the VP1 200-207 epitope (YKQKIIAP) previously shown to be recognized by monoclonal antibody MA18, as well as the VP1 141-153 epitope (SRRGDLGSLAPRV) previously shown to be recognized by monoclonal antibody MA 11.
Virus-neutralizing antibodies were detected in the sera of animals after immunization with the hybrid protein containing FMDV epitopes.
