description:	Critical residue for mAb binding was identified with escape mutants and various FMDV SAT2 isolates. Mutation or change at the residue eliminated the binding. The mAb bound 146S and 12S viral particles in sandwich ELISA, but poorly in indirect ELISA. The mAb did not bind denatured virus.
