name:
Development, characterization and immunogenicity of a multi-stage, multi-valent Plasmodium falciparum vaccine antigen (FALVAC-1A) expressed in Escherichia coli.
description:
Rabbits immunized with the multi-epitope vaccine construct FALVAC-1A were tested for reactivity against individual epitopes. While high titers were achieved with all adjuvants tested, the water-in-oil emulsion and Montanide ISA-720 generated the highest titers. Sera from FALVAC-1A vaccinated animals were also shown to inhibit sporozoite invasion, recognized sporozoites and blood stage parasites in IFA from both Pf NF54 and FC27 strains, and demonstrated antibody-dependent cellular inhibition of Pf FC27.
