description:	The epitope was synthesized with an added N-terminal Tyr-Gly-Gly and a C-terminal Gly residue. The epitope did not prime rabbits for a long-lasting neutralizing IgG response against poliovirus type 3. Sera from rabbits immunized with one or three doses of the epitope-BSA conjugate followed by inoculation with poliovirus type 1 weakly neutralized type 2 virus. Antisera from 1 of 3 rabbits did immunoprecipitate type 3 virions.
