name:
The neutralizing antibody response against West Nile virus in naturally infected horses.
description:
Horses with high WNV ELISA titers efficiently blocked binding of neutralizing MAbs 8B10 and 11C2 to sub-viral particles. These results indicated that the T332 neutralizing epitope is a target of the humoral immune response during natural infection of WNV in horses. For some sera, neutralization of sub-virus particles was abrogated when the epitope residues were mutated, suggesting that some but not all infected animals, antibodies that bind to the DIII epitope that includes residues 306, 307, 330 and 332 comprise a significant fraction of total neutralizing activity.
