description:	The epitope represents a peptide mimic of a previously defined lipooligosaccharide determinant from N. meningitidis L3,7,9 LOS. The molecule is referred to as LPS in the reference, but the current nomenclature is LOS. Sera from mice immunized with the epitope conjugated to KLH (or those fused to HBc) failed to react with LPS or outer membrane vesicle (OMV; containing LPS) after three immunizations. Similarly, immunization with the epitope-HBc fusion particle also failed to produce OMV-specific antibodies.
