name:
IgE binding structures of the major house dust mite allergen Der p I.
description:
The sequence is from the reference cited: Chua et al. (1988) J Exp Med 167: 175-182 [PMID: 3335830] and Dilworth et al. (1991) Clin Exp Allergy 21: 25-32 [PMID: 2021874].
The epitope absorbed the IgE reactivity from serum of a highly allergic patient to the epitope. Peptides 1-116 and 15-94 also absorbed IgE reactivity to the epitope. Absorption with the epitope reduced reactivity to peptide 15-94, but did not absorb reactivity to peptides 1-116, 34-80, 53-99, or non-overlapping Der p I peptides. The epitope was inferred to be residues 15-33 because peptide 15-94 removed reactivity, but peptide 34-80 did not.
