description:	Epitope sequence can be found in cited reference: Guerina et al (1985) J Exp Med 161:145-159 [PMID: 2857190]. A cysteine residue was added to the C-terminus of the epitope sequence. Anti-peptide antibodies recognized denatured pilins of all strains, including the homologous strain M43p+, tested by Western blotting in this study.
