name:
Establishment of a monoclonal antibody recognizing an antigenic site common to Clostridium botulinum type B, C1, D, and E toxins and tetanus toxin.
description:
A complete sequence for the BONT/E of Iwanai strain could not be found in the curent Swiss-prot/Genebank databases. The accession provided here is stated to be based in the sequences of the BONT/E strains Beluga and Hazen 3620.
Three monoclonal antibodies raised against the light chain fragment of BONT/E are shown to recognize BONT/E by ELISA, and its LC fragment in WB, and to have cross-reactive binding to toxins of the C1, D and F types, to Tetanus toxin, and weakly to type B BONT, indicating that there exists at least one common antigenic determinant on the LC regions of these toxins. No reaction to types A, F or C2 was observed, nor to C.perfringens enterotoxin. No neutralization activity was detected for any of the 3 mAbs.
