description:	The epitope was synthesized with a Tyr-Nle added to the N-terminus and Cys added to the C-terminus. Sera from animals immunized with the epitope-BSA conjugate neutralized HAV growth in cultures of newborn Cynomolgus monkey kidney cells. The antisera also recognized HAV virions by ELISA and reacted with purified denatured HAV VP1 by Western blotting.
