The monoclonal antibody against the major diagnostic antigen of Paracoccidioides brasiliensis mediates immune protection in infected BALB/c mice challenged intratracheally with the fungus.

| description: |
This peptide sequence was found to be conserved in the internal sequences of beta-1,3-glucanases of Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus oryzae, and Blumeria graminis. In the manuscript the epitope sequence is also listed as NHVRIPIGWAV.
P.brasiliensis cells opsonized with epitope-specific mAb 3E were more than twofold internalized by macrophages from both primary isolates and cell lines compared with control mAb. The phagocytic activity was accompanied with an increase in nitric oxide metabolite release.
