DNA vaccines expressing B and T cell epitopes can protect mice from FMDV infection in the absence of specific humoral responses.
|
| description: |
The epitope sequence is from the reference cited: Toja et al. (1999) Virus Res 64: 161-171 [PMID: 10518172].
The epitope-specific mAb SD6 immunostained 2% of BHK-21 cells transfected with a plasmid containing a linear construct of the epitope and the T cell epitopes from FMDV, 3A (11-40) (YFLIEKGQHEAAIEFFEGMVHDSIKEELRP) and VP4 (20-34) (SIINNYYMQQYQNSM). A higher percentage of positive cells was achieved by using a construct with a signal peptide from human prion protein fused to the FMDV peptides.
