| name: |
Protection of swine from foot-and-mouth disease with one dose of an all-D retro peptide.
|
| description: |
The peptide is an all-D retro peptide corresponding to the GH loop encompassing residue 141-159 of capsid protein VP1 of foot-and-mouth disease virus serotype A, subtype 12, referenced in Briand J.P. et al 1997. PNAS 94:12545 [PMID:9356486].
The results obtained by ELISA were confirmed by Radioimmunoprecipitation of virus-induced proteins produced in BHK cells. Two animals did not develop antibodies against 3ABC, indicating that virus replication had not taken place. Results from two animals 7were only very weakly positive and the findings were not confirmed by RIP.
