description:	Serum IgE from latex-allergic spina bifida patients reacted with the epitope in a study of overlapping decapeptides spanning the sequence of Hev b 1. Serum IgE also showed strong binding to the epitope by ELISA. Serum IgE from latex-allergic health care workers did not react with the epitope.
