Fine mapping of IgE epitopes using overlapping 9-mer peptides, identified the epitope as SFTNFGSVV. Amino acid substitutions of Val and Asp at positions 36 and 37, respectively, and deletion of Tyr at position 39 reduced the binding of patients' serum IgE to the mutant Pen ch 13 protein.
