Sequence uniqueness and sequence variability as modulating factors of human anti-HCV humoral immune response.

| description: |
This peptide corresponds to the NS2 region of the polyprotein. This peptide has a low similarity level in comparison with the human proteome
only one occurrence of a match for all the possible 5-mers contained in this peptide is found in the human proteome. The peptide is poorly conserved in other HCV subtypes: Two substitutions in subtype 1a (isolate H), five and six substitutions in subtype 2a strain JFH-1 and HC-J6, respectively, four susbtitutions in subtype 1b (strains Taiwan, BK, Con1, Japanese and HC-JT), and six substitutions in subtype 2b (strains HC-J8 and JPUT971017).
Partially purified antibodies from sera of HCV patients who had not yet received therapeutic treatments were analyzed.
