Identification of an immunorelevant ORF2 epitope from porcine circovirus type 2 as a serological marker for experimental and natural infection.
|
| description: |
This epitope sequence is from the reference cited: Mahe et al. (2000) J Gen Virol 81: 1815-1824 [PMID: 10859388].
Sera from PCV2-immunized specific pathogen-free piglets or conventional farm piglets cross-reacted with the epitope in a pepscan analysis of overlapping peptides. Reactivity with the epitope by ELISA increased 1.6-fold in the SPF piglets and 0.1-fold in the farm piglets 6 weeks post-inoculation compared to the pre-immune serum. The ratio of reactivity with the analogous peptide from PCV2 versus the epitope was 1.1-1.4, indicating the PCV2 peptide is not PCV2 discriminant.
