Murine monoclonal antibodies to PorA of Neisseria meningitidis show reduced protective activity in vivo against B:15:P1.7,16 subtype variants in an infant rat infection model.
|
| description: |
This peptide is located in the predicted loop 1 of variable region 1 (VR1) and is part of the P1.7 epitopic determinant. The meningococcal reference strain H44/76 with B:15:P1.7,16 phenotype has the epitopes for the subtype P1.7 and P1.16 specific monoclonal antibodies in the VR1 and VR2, respectively.
The reference strain H44/76, as well as three isogenic strains derived from it that differ at the P1.16 epitope but have identical P1.7 sequences are recognized equally well by this P1.7 specific monoclonal antibody.
