description:	The epitope-specific mAb gave only a limited staining pattern in T. thermophila. The epitope was localized only in patches organized into rows resembling the basal body alignment. It was not found in microtubular structures, including those in the oral apparatus region. The epitope-specific mAb was also positive in Western blot and IEF with T. thermophilia whole cell extracts. Electron microscopy examination revealed that the epitope-specific mAb specifically decorated the cortex area which contained small vesicles, vacuoles, and mitochondria.
