description:	Epitope sequence corresponds to a region of antigenicity, as predicted by using the MacVector computer model. Alanine substitution of several key AAs (Q1, E5) significantly reduced or eliminated IgE binding. Similarly, by site-directed mutagenesis of Hev b 5 at E91 (correnponding to position 5 in the peptide), a 3-fold change in IgE binding to the protein was observed.
