name:
Two distinct subtypes of hepatitis C virus defined by antibodies directed to the putative core protein.
description:
The peptide is conserved in other isolates, such as HC-J5, HC-J8 and HC-J7, of HCV.
To determine the residues important for binding, inhibition ELISAs were performed where the epitope-specific responses from three donors were competed with peptides with residue substitutions (for the corresponding residue in the genotype 1 sequence). Substitutions of G77 and K78 abolished the binding capacity.
