The epitope-specific mAbs recognized the 100 kDa ATPase from crude yeast membranes by Western blotting. Detergent-purified ATPase competed for the binding of the mAbs to ATPase. Plasma membrane vesicles containing ATPase did not compete for mAb binding, indicating the epitope was not accessible.
