The epitope sequence is from the reference cited: Serrano et al.(1986) Nature 319: 689-693 [PMID: 3005867]. The epitope was deduced.
The epitope-specific mAbs recognized the 100 kDa ATPase from crude yeast membranes by Western blotting. Detergent-purified ATPase competed for the binding of the mAbs to ATPase. Plasma membrane vesicles containing ATPase did not compete for mAb binding, indicating the epitope was not accessible.
