name:
Localization of a domain in the FimH adhesin of Escherichia coli type 1 fimbriae capable of receptor recognition and use of a domain-specific antibody to confer protection against experimental urinary tract infection.
description:
The author confirmed the sequence of the peptide used, and assigned its source to the sequence published in Klemm P., Eur. J. Biochem. (1984) 143: 395-399 [PMID:6147250] which is the origin of the accession provided.
The levels of bacteria in the bladder of mice five days after intravesicular challenge with E.coli CI5 were analyzed. Mice passively immunized with epitope-specific rabbit serum 24 hours before challenge had similar levels of bacteria as controls.
