Sera from rabbits immunized with the peptide showed positive opsonic titers. The anti-peptide sera recognized serotype 24, but not type 5 or 6, indicating serotype-specific immune response. There was no response when rabbits were immunized with a peptide with glycine at position 11 substituted by lysine.
