name:
Immune responses to linear epitopes on the PorB protein of Neisseria meningitidis in patients with systemic meningococcal disease.
description:
Several peptides containing the sequence FHQNGQVTE and including either residues VTT at the C-terminus or residues SV at the N-terminus were recognized by systemic meningococcal disease patients. The pin-bound peptides covering this region were recognized, but a free peptide covering the region FHQNGQVTEVTTATGI was not. The authors conclude that reactivity by pepscan is due to the high concentration of pin-bound peptide, facilitating bivalent reactions and cross-reactivity. A longer peptide (D63b2) encompassing the region could be recognized in solution.
