Rabbits immunized with the larger peptide 45-64 conjugated to TT reacted well with the shorter epitope, aa50-61. The authors deduced aa50-61 as the epitope. This sera was also capable of reacting with the B subunit of the heat-labile enterotoxin (H-LT) of both human and porcine strains of E. coli, as well as human-porcine chimeric proteins with mutations at residues 4, 13, 46, and 102.
