Identification of antigenic epitopes in a surface protein antigen of Streptococcus mutans in humans.
|
| description: |
The epitope is located within the C-terminal region of the surface protein antigen gene PAc.
27/153 synthesized peptides within the N-terminal region A and the middle region of PAc showed similar positive Ab reactivity in an epitope screening assay, using serum samples from 5 patients (A-E). The HLA types of subjects A to E, respectively, were as follows: All, A33, B44, DR6(13), DR8, DR52, DQl; All, A33, B44, C7, DR2(15), DR6(13), DR52, DQl(DQ5); A24, All, B52, B7, C7, DR1, DR2(15),DQl(DQ5, DQ6); A2, A31, B48, C4, DR2(l5), DR9,DR53, DQl(DQ6); and A24, A31, B6l, BS9, Cl,C3, DR1, DR9, DR53, DQl(DQ5), DQ9. An identical epitope screen using saliva samples of patients A-E yielded similar reactivity. ELISA titers of serum antibodies, however, did not correspond with ELISA titers of saliva antibodies.
