Human coxsackievirus B4 specific antiserum were tested for the ability to neutralize the chimeric virus CVB3/4 in plaque reduction assays. This chimeric virus contained the epitope inserted into the CVB3 VP1 protein at position 83. The anti-CVB4 antiserum neutralized CVB4 and the chimeric virus, but not CVB3.
