The residues are located in the ED3 domain of the envelope protein. These residues were determined to be critical for the definition of the DENV complex-specific epitope. Other residues (T303, D382, A384, K386, R391) are involved but not critical, and are considered to be in the periphery of the epitope.
Epitope specific mAb efficiently inhibited the hemagglutination activity of DENV-3 strain H87. The titers are lower than those previously obtained for DENV-2.
