description:	The epitope sequence is from the reference cited: Broekaert et al. (1990) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 87: 7633-7637 [PMID: 2217194]. Pooled serum IgE from health care workers with latex allergy or spina bifida patients with latex allergy reacted by Western blotting and ELISA with the epitope expressed as a fusion protein with maltose binding protein. Of HCW, 88% reacted with the epitope, and 56% of SB patients reacted.
