Cross-reactive and serospecific epitopes of nucleocapsid proteins of three hantaviruses: prospects for new diagnostic tools.
|
| description: |
In 9 and 11 out of 14 nephropatia epidemica patients with cross-reactivity to the Seoul virus Sapporo SR11 Nucleocapsid protein, a significant reduction in the reactivity was seen when residues HEGQ-RQKK or DPDD were replaced by alanine, respectively. For the HEGQ and RQKK substitutions, mutants where only one of the two stretches was changed gave similar results than the 8-residue replaced mutant in most of the patients. For the DPDD replaced mutant, the ELISA results were confirmed by western blot.
