The epitope sequence was deduced through study of overlapping peptides. The antibody recognized K562 cells expressing a recombinant chimeric protein of Fya or Fyb allelic form of Duffy antigen (aa3-60) and glycoprotein A (aa104-131). Binding of the antibody to Fya/GPA or Fyb/GPA was also positive, measured by direct binding ELISA.
