In 8 out of 16 nephropatia epidemica patients with cross-reactivity to the SNV Convict Creek 107 Nucleocapsid protein, a significant reduction in the reactivity was seen when the epitope residues were replaced by alanine. The ELISA results were confirmed by western blot.
