Maintenance of antibody to pathogen epitopes generated by segmental gene conversion is highly dynamic during long-term persistent infection.
|
| description: |
This peptide is a fragment of pseudogene P1 of A.marginale strain St.Maries, which is one of the donor sequences for recombinantion into the HVR region of the MSP-2 gene during the segmental gene conversion that occurs in infectious processes.
The persistence of the reactivity towards this peptide was analyzed as a function of the representation of this HVR segment in the variant population obtained at different times after infection. The antibody binding during persistent infection was not consistently linked to the proportional representation of the epitope during persistent infection.
