| name: |
A common epitope of beta-lactoglobulin and serum retinol-binding proteins: elucidation of its core sequence using synthetic peptides.
|
| description: |
This sequence is found in bovine beta-lactoglobulin (BLG) and in all the known serum retinol-binding proteins (RBP). For the remaining of their sequences, BLG and RBP proteins show only 25-30% homology despite having a close similarity at the level of secondary and tertiary structures.
The epitope-specific antibody recognized the denatured and the native from of human serum retinol-biding protein in ELISA and RIA. It also reacted in WB, suggesting the reactivity to native protein in direct ELISA and RIA is attributed to partial denaturation of the protein.
