| name: |
Characterisation of an epitope specific to the neuron-specific isoform of human enolase recognised by a monoclonal antibody raised against a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminus of beta/A4-protein.
|
| description: |
The epitope-specific mAbs stained the cytoplasm of neuronal cells in Alzheimer's disease. Some beta-amyloid plaques and plaque cores were strongly labeled with the epitope-specific mAb when sections had been pretreated with protease. The cytoplasmic staining with the mAb was still observed after proteolysis. There was no evidence that this mAb recognised cerebrovascular beta-amyloid deposits or neurofibrillary tangles (either intra- or extra-cellular) with or without proteolysis.
