The PHF-1 mAb recognized only the phosphorylated forms of T3 peptide: single phosphorylation at residues S8 (T3P) or S12 (T3(P)), and double phosphorylation at both S8 and S12 (T3PP). However, related sequences such as non-phosphorylated T3 peptide, T3 peptide with a S12A substitution (T3Ala), or T3PAla peptide were not recognized.
