| description: |
The epitope sequence was derived from the sequence found in the cited reference, Bonifacio et al, J Immunol. 161:2648 (1998) [PMID: 9725268].
The epitope was deduced by analysis of the reactivity to the WT IA-2 C-terminal fragment (including the Juxta-membrane and the PTP-like domains), that was abolished or reduced in the patients when the epitope residues at positions 1,2,3 and 5 mutated to those in the homologous protein IA-2beta PTP-like domain, which the patients don't recognize. The Gly at positon 4 is conserved with IA-2beta, and therefore was not mutated.
