A significant increase in serum antibody to alpha3(IV)NC1 and alpha4(IV)NC1 domains was evident by 4 weeks after immunization with the epitope. Antibodies that were eluted from human kidneys of nephritic rats also bound to human 3(IV)NC1in ELISA or Western blot, and in addition stained rat kidney sections in indirect immunofluorescence.
