Immunization of mice with the epitope-expressing A beta-VLP increased levels of Amyloid beta (1-40) and Amyloid beta (1-42) fragments in plasma, but decreased the levels of Amyloid beta fragments in brain homogenates. Immunized mice also had an increased number of activated microglia in the brain.
