name:
Production of anaphylactic antibodies to drugs in experimental animals. I. Benzylpenicillin.
description:
Mast cells collected from passively PG-sensitized rats were positive for histamine release using the guinea pig ileum bioassay. The authors use this as an indicator of the presence of anaphylactic antibodies against benzylpenicillin. Sera from animals immunized i.p. and those immunized orally gave he best results, followed by those immunized through s.c. routes. The presence of normal rat serum was not required for histamine release.
