The use of hapten-polysaccharide conjugates for the induction of B-cell tolerance involving IgE responses. II. Specific tolerance induced by sulphonamide-substituted levan in the mouse.
description:
Intravenous injection of large doses (0.1 and 1 mg) of 4-SABA conjugated to the polysaccharide levan before immunization with 4-SABA-CGG induced complete tolerance to the epitope 4-SABA. High doses of 4-SABA-Le depressed a secondary response to an additional challenge with 4-SABA-CGG on day 196. The antisera were titered by passive cutaneous anaphylaxis in Wistar rats. Spleen cells from mice made tolerant by injection of 10 µg 4-SABA-Le adoptively transferred into irradiated syngeneic mice did not inhibit he anti-4-SABA IgE response.
