The specificity of cross-reactivity: promiscuous antibody binding involves specific hydrogen bonds rather than nonspecific hydrophobic stickiness.
description:
Competition ELISA with soluble DNP for binding to DNP-biotin was performed. A similar result (Kd =40 nM) was obtained with DNP-lysine, which is the residue through which the DNP is linked to the immunizing carrier, while low affinity (Kd 10000 nM) was obtained to DNP-Pro. Fluorescence quenching assays with DNP-Asn and DNP-Ser gave a Kd of 700 and 20 nM, respectively.
