The epitope inhibited the binding of the mAb to human AChR protein in an radioimmunoassay. An analog peptide containing an E11A substitution (QPSPYNGWRMAI) showed no binding to the mAb. The epitope also inhibited the antibody-mediated down-regulation of AChR on human cells.
