Immunoadsorption against two distinct epitopes on human type XVII collagen abolishes dermal-epidermal separation induced in vitro by autoantibodies from pemphigoid gestationis patients.
description:
Epitope specific antibodies were isolated from pemphigoid gestationis patients and shown to cause dermal-epidermal separation in an in vitro model of skin criosection culture. The flow through fraction also caused the effect, implying antibodies specific for other epitopes are responsible for the effect as well .
